Kansas City, Mo. — Crux KC announces that Thomas Butch has joined its advisory board and, through his consultancy, is serving the firm as a consulting strategist and senior editorial contributor.

Butch retired in March as president of TD Ameritrade, Inc., capping a 43-year career. He previously spent 18 years at Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. in Kansas City, serving as corporate Chief Marketing Officer and CEO of its Waddell & Reed, Inc. and Ivy Funds Distributor, Inc. subsidiaries. Prior to that, he was president of Stein Roe Mutual Funds in Chicago, and served for 13 years at Mellon Bank Corporation in Pittsburgh, with leadership roles in corporate and investor communications.
Butch’s community activities in Kansas City include chairing the boards of the National World War I Museum and Memorial and the Kansas City Sports Commission. He also served on the board of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. He presently serves on the board of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, where he is a past chairman. He resides in western Pennsylvania and South Carolina, visiting Kansas City frequently.
