GRANT SHARPLES

Content Manager

Grant Sharples is someone who just loves to write. After discovering a passion for the written word in creative writing classes and his high school newspaper, he majored in journalism at the University of Missouri – Columbia, where he further developed his interests as a storyteller and writer.

After graduating with an emphasis in magazine writing, he continued his education at Mizzou to receive a master’s in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communication. This way, he’d be able to dive into the worlds of both editorial journalism and ad-focused copywriting. He has also been a freelance music journalist since college, and he has contributed to publications such as Pitchfork, Stereogum, The Ringer, Interview Magazine, Los Angeles Review of Books, NME, Paste, SPIN, Consequence of Sound, MTV News, and several others. He also writes a weekly column at UPROXX where he explores some of his favorite new indie music. Before his time at Crux, he was a digital content specialist at Indikon Media where he wrote SEO-driven content for clients serving the adoption and surrogacy industries.

In his downtime, he enjoys (obviously) listening to music and writing about it, reading books of all kinds, playing his Nintendo Switch, going for neighborhood jogs, watching films, and spending quality time with his wife and two bichons.
