Video Editor

JOB SUMMARY:

We’re looking for a Video Editor who can take raw footage and turn it into captivating, polished videos that tell a story. Working closely with our Writer/Producer and other creative team members, you’ll be the mastermind behind post-production, ensuring every cut, transition, and sound effect enhances the narrative and aligns with brand standards. This role is perfect for someone who’s equal parts artist and technician, with a passion for storytelling and an eye for detail. Bonus points if you can seamlessly collaborate with our motion graphics designer to bring videos to life with dynamic animations and effects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Video Editing and Post-Production:
    • Edit raw footage into compelling video content for digital, social, and traditional platforms, ensuring high-quality output that aligns with the brand's voice and goals.
    • Assemble and fine-tune video segments with a focus on storytelling, pacing, and flow—ensuring a seamless final product.
    • Incorporate music, sound effects, and voiceovers strategically to enhance the narrative and emotional impact of videos.
    • Optimize videos for different platforms, ensuring proper formatting, compression, and quality standards for web, mobile, and social media.
  • Collaboration and Creative Execution:
    • Work closely with the Writer/Producer to understand the creative vision and narrative structure for each project.
    • Collaborate with videographers and directors to review raw footage and select the best takes and shots.
    • Provide feedback and direction to the motion graphics designer reporting to you, ensuring animations and effects elevate the overall video.
    • Contribute creative ideas during brainstorm sessions to push content quality and storytelling.
  • Motion Graphics Oversight:
    • Lead/manage one motion graphics designer, providing strategic direction and feedback to ensure animations align with the video’s vision and brand standards.
    • Coordinate with the motion graphics designer to integrate graphics, titles, lower thirds and other effects seamlessly into videos.
    • Review and approve motion graphics elements, providing constructive feedback for revisions when necessary.
    • Ensure the quality execution and on-time delivery of all projects assigned to motion graphic designer.
    • Collaborate with traffic and account teams to monitor project status and report progress.
    • Participate in and provide regular opportunities for professional development and growth to Video team.
  • Color Grading and Sound Design:
    • Perform color correction and grading to ensure a consistent and professional look across all video projects.
    • Edit and mix audio tracks, adjusting levels, removing noise and syncing sound with video for a flawless viewing experience.
    • Collaborate with sound designers or source music tracks as needed to enhance video impact.
  • Asset Management and Workflow:
    • Maintain an organized file management system for video projects, ensuring easy access to assets, raw footage and project files.
    • Create and manage templates for recurring video formats to streamline the editing process.
    • Ensure all final files are delivered according to project timelines and technical specifications.
  • Quality Control and Review:
    • Conduct thorough reviews of videos before final approval, checking for technical errors, smooth transitions and overall quality.
    • Implement client and internal feedback efficiently, ensuring quick turnarounds without compromising quality.
    • Maintain high standards for every video, ensuring they are error-free, engaging and on-brand.
  • Innovation and Trends:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest editing software, AI, plugins and industry trends to continuously improve video quality and efficiency.
    • Experiment with new editing techniques, transitions and effects to keep content fresh and engaging.
    • Bring innovative ideas for video formats, styles and storytelling techniques to the table.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a video editor, ideally within a marketing agency, media company or similar environment.
  • Expertise in video and sound editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition.
  • Proven experience managing motion graphics and integrating animations seamlessly into video content.
  • Strong storytelling skills with a keen eye for pacing, composition and detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines and creative quality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members.
  • Familiarity with audio editing software and sound design principles.
  • Knowledge of alternate video production applications like DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
