The Vice President (VP), People & Development is a hands-on leader responsible for implementing a comprehensive people strategy that supports the company’s growth, strengthens its culture, and enhances the employee experience. This role combines strategic thinking with strong execution, leading day-to-day HR operations while collaborating with senior leaders to ensure People programs align with business needs.
The VP, People & Development is a trusted advisor to people managers, a champion for employee development, and a steward of company culture. You’ll work with members of the Crux leadership team to uphold our TEAM CRUX values and collaborate to guide, coach and advise on all things related to the employee life cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Strategy & Leadership
- Translate company goals into actionable people programs that support growth and team development
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure team structure, hiring plans and capabilities match business priorities
- Provide coaching and support to people leaders across the organization
- Champion a culture of accountability, inclusion and continuous feedback
Talent Acquisition
- Lead recruitment efforts across all functions, ensuring diverse, qualified candidate pipelines
- Coach hiring managers on effective interviewing and equitable hiring practices
- Maintain compelling job descriptions aligned with company culture and brand
Performance & Development
- Implement frameworks for performance reviews, feedback and goal setting
- Support career pathing and development planning across teams
- Facilitate training and development programs, including mid-level manager training
- Advise on performance improvement plans and development conversations
Total Rewards & Compensation
- Partner with Finance on compensation and total rewards, including base pay, bonus and benefits
- Ensure documentation and communication around compensation changes are accurate and timely
- Monitor market compensation data and contribute to budgeting for increases and promotions
Culture & Employee Experience
- Lead efforts to foster a high-performing, inclusive culture
- Coordinate internal committees and programs that promote engagement and recognition
- Monitor employee sentiment through feedback channels and help drive responsive action
- Model professionalism and uphold the integrity of the employee experience
HR Operations & Compliance
- Manage HR operations in partnership with internal staff or vendors
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and internal policies
- Oversee and maintain HR systems and documentation, including the HRIS
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation, updates and enforcement
- Manage and improve HRIS systems and tools
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience, ideally in a professional services or creative industry
- Experience building or scaling HR processes in a fast-paced, people-centric environment
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance and HR best practices
- Coaching mindset with the ability to approach issues head-on
- Strong sense of confidentiality and integrity, with the ability to build trust
- Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
